Knitting/Design

I’ve been a designer all my life, although (like many women) I didn’t necessarily give myself that label for a long time.  I’ve been sewing since I was five, knitting since the age of eight, have engaged in quilting, weaving, a modest amount of crochet, enormous amounts of dyework, jewelry creation, ceramics… and I designed all ten of my books.  I ran a textiles workshop for three years in the UK, and still make lots of socks, shawls and sweaters, plus the occasional afghan.  (Click here for more on knitting.)

In 1985, I entered Hull School of Architecture, and six year later emerged, blinking, with a B. Arch, a M. Arch, and a year in practice.  Click here for more on Architectural Design.
